- In Ladakh we will traverse an amazing range of landscapes, wind-swept –desert and sand dunes, brilliantly colored rock formations, lush valleys.

Day 01: DELHI- CHANDIGARH- MANALI, TRAIN 0700 / 1100 HRS, DRIVE 310 KMS
In the morning board Shatabdi Express (departure:0740 hours) from New Delhi Railway station to Chandigarh. Met on arrival (1100 hours) at Chandigarh railway station and drive (310 km) to Manali (1920 mt) via Kullu. On arrival, check-in at hotel for overnight stay.

Day 02: MANALI
Morning after breakfast, proceed to visit Naggar Fort & Hadimba Temple complex.
Naggar Castle, was built by using a local stone, the layers of which are punctuated by long pieces of cut wood. The style of construction ensured a lot of resilience in the structure, and it successfully withstood the mighty and disastrous earthquake of 1905.
Evening at leisure.

Day 03: MANALI- ROHTANG PASS- KEYLONG, DRIVE 140 Kms
Drive to Keylong (3140 M) (approx 6 – 7 hrs) via Rohtang pass (3980 M). On arrival check-into hotel. Visit Sahsur gompa in the afternoon. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 04: KEYLONG- SARCHU, DRIVE 92 Kms
Morning drive to Sarchu in approx 4 hours.
Sarchu is the border of Himachal and Jammu – Kashmir States. Enroute stop at Baralacha Pass (4891 M). Baralacha means “a pass with cross roads”, here the roads from Zanskar, Ladakh, Spiti and Lahaul meets. Arrive Sarchu (4253 M) and check-in at Tented Camp for overnight stay.Evening at leisure.

Day 05: SARCHU- LACHUNGLA PASS- PANG- LEH, DRIVE 210 KMS, D: 0700 HRS
From Sarchu we will crossing a number of passes. Climb up the Gatta Loops, a series of 21 hairpin bends carved into the mountainside and then after descending once again wind your way up the Lachung La pass (4985M above sea level). Lunch break at Pang. After Lunch pass through Skyangchu Thang (Biggest and Highest Plateau on Earth on Stretch of 42 Kms), Tanglang La Pass 17,585ft, second highest motorable road in the world, after climbing down drive along the banks of Indus river & Indus Valley. Arrive at Leh by evening.

Day 06: LEH
Full day sightseeing tour. Shey Palace: Shey is a small town in comparison to Leh. It is located around 15km to the south on the main highway heading in the Manali direction. Shey Palace was built in early 17th century AD by Deldan Namgyal as a memorial for his father, Singay Namgyal. The palace houses a three storey copper statue of Buddha Shakyamuni.Overlooking the Shey palace are the ruins of the fort built by the first king of Ladakh, Lhachen Spalgigon. Shey also has a very large scattering of stupas all across it’s landscape.
Stok Palace Museum: 17 km from Leh. The Palace of the banished royal family, Stok has a museum which displays fabulous period costumes and Jewellery of the royalty along with exquisite Thankas representing the life style of Sakya Muni. Interesting historical objects like coins, armour, weapons, precious jade and porcelain too can be seen here.
Interact with a local family at Stok and have Lunch with them.

Day 07: LEH - PANGONG DRIVE
After an early breakfast we Leave for Pangong Lake through Changla pass 5486 Mtrs. Pangong Lake, is situated at 14,000 feet (4,267 m) and 1/3rd part of the lake lies in China. Enjoy the landscape in the back drop of the Lake. One rarely feels so close to nature and environment and the scenery is unforgettable. Evening at leisure and overnight stay at a Lake side camp.

Day 08: PANGONG- LEH
Morning at leisure to explore the beauty of lake and later we drive back to leh. Arrive Leh by evening.

Day 09: LEH- KHALSAR- KHARDUNGLA PASS- NUBRA VALLEY, DRIVE: 145 kms, D: 0700 HRS
Take a spectacular drive over Khardungla Pass (18,390 ft), the world’s highest motorable pass and enter into the northern frontier of beautiful Nubra Valley ( meaning the valley of flowers), with high mountains where the average altitude of the valley is 10,000 ft. Its attractions are the great monasteries, white sand dunes and ride on double humped camels. We have an entire day to explore this valley
We reach Hunder Village through a gorgeous stretch of sand dunes. This is where we will camp tonight. The main attractions in this area are the Bactarian Double Humped Camels. This is the ancient Silk route and these animals were abandoned by the traders. Successive generations have procreated over centuries. This evening we enjoy camel ride over the Sand Dunes. This is a high mountain desert country with fertile dots of land in between.
Check-in at Tented camp for the night.

Day 10: NUBRA VALLEY- LEH, DRIVE 145 kms
Morning after breakfast visit Samstanling Monastery then retreat back to Leh. Once again we’ll drive via Khardungla pass the World Highest Motorable road.
Samstanling Gompa: Samstanling Monastery was founded by Lama Tsultrim Nima and Monastic community was introduced as Rezong Gompa. About 50-60 monks are residing at this 132 years old monastery..
Rest of the day is at leisure for your independent activities.

Day 11: LEH ( Rafting at Zanskar), DRIVE: 40+40 Kms, D: 0800 Hrs
Drive to Chilling, starting point of a thrilling White water Rafting trip along the Zanskar River
(grade III – IV). The trip ends at Nimoo, from where we return back to Leh.
Evening at Leisure. This is the day to catch up on your shopping. Think about people who are in your thoughts and who ‘deserve’ souvenirs from this magical destination.

Day 12: LEH- DELHI
Board the morning flight back to Delhi.

- Organized trip means we follow a fixed itinerary although there could be a bit of flexibility.

- Ladakh is still developing and its tourism infrastructure is not that big. A spirit of adventure and a flexible, open-minded attitude will help you make the most of this tour.
DO REMEMBER !!
We’ll be crossing some high altitude passes in our journey to Leh and it’s important that you don’t exert yourself for first couple of days and get acclimatized properly. Drink lots of water!
WHEN TO GO?
The best time to visit Ladakh is during summer i.e. from June to September. The valley’s are snow bound from November – May and remains isolated from rest of the world. It’s a high altitude desert, monsoons that touch north from July – Aug doesn’t make a dent it this region and in fact that is the perfect time to visit this region.
DELAY & UNEXPECTED HINDRANCE
It is possible that a route change may become necessary due to inclement weather, inaccessibility through the mountain passes due to heavy snow, condition of the trail and physical fitness of the clients, political restrictions and other cause beyond human control
MEDICAL & FIRST AID
This tour goes into the Ladakh region , where government hospital is available at Leh only. But through the safari very basic professional medical help will be available. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are in good health and physically & mentally fit to join the trip.
The tour guide, though not qualified medically, has done first aid course from NOLS (national outdoor leadership school), UK and is competent to give first-aid if and when required. In case you have an existing medical condition, like heart problem or disability you must consult your doctor before making a booking with us.
Most people in reasonably good health should not have any problems with most of the activities through the tour. But general good health and better immune system will help your body to get acclimatized well and allow you to enjoy the high altitude passes and lakes without being totally fatigued.
Manali : Luxury hotel at old Manali with all meals included.
Keylong: Stay in basic but clean hotel.
Sarchu: Stay in Campsite in Swiss cottage tents with attached bath.
Pangong: Stay in campsite in tents with attached bath.
Leh: Grade ‘A’ hotel close to the market area.
Nubra Valley: Stay in campsite in Swiss cottage tents with separate bath.
Children above the age of 8 are accepted on this trip with a strong sense of adventure. Children will get to experience the Tibetan culture, Interact with monks of their age studying in monastery schools. Children under 12 sharing their parents’ room receive a discounted price. There are no babysitting facilities along the route, but extra bedding and special dishes can be arranged with advance notice.
